Throughout my pregnancy I have kept kidney, bladder, and bacterial infections. Will this hurt my baby? I cant seem to get rid of them. Also, I have low protein, what is something I can take that is high in protein?

They can harm the baby, but usually don't as long as there are treated right away. Untreated bladder infections may turn into kidney infections. Just make sure that you goto the doctor/hospital if it is a weekend and get prescribed k-flex or something like it to get rid of the infection. It is so important that you take and finish the medicine. i was having morning sickness when I had a bladder infection and they made me stay in the hospital for 3 days so that they could give me an antibiotic through the Iv as I couldn't keep the pills down in my stomach. Also make suer that you are drinking LOTS of water, this helps sooo much when it comes to getting rid of/ preventing these infections.

And here is some info on protein:

PROTEIN

Research says: Studies at Southampton University show adults whose mothers ate a highprotein diet - including meat, cheese and dairy products - when they were pregnant had higher blood pressure, were at greater risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes and were more vulnerable to stress than those whose mothers ate a healthy balance of carbohydrates and protein.

Nutritionist says: Protein foods are important for growth and contain other important nutrients such as iron and zinc in meat and calcium in milk and dairy products. I would not advise pregnant women to decrease their intakes of these foods unless their consumption was excessive.

An increase in vegetables and fruit while pregnant is advisable, so the Atkins diet is totally unsuitable during pregnancy. Pregnant women should make sure they eat at least two types of vegetables with their two main meals of the day and two types of fruit a day.

I have also had kidney, bladder and urinary tract infections throughout my pregnancy, all that on top of the fact that I have a high risk pregnancy (I nearly miscarried at 16 weeks).

Don't wory too much, but get the infections treated, even if they come back almost straight away (as they did with me). The antibiotics the doctor will give you are special ones which will not affect your baby.

I also have low protein - egg is very high in protein, excellent for bringing it up to a good level, but make sure it is cooked very well!! i.e: In omelette / boiled eggs etc... Don't eat fried eggs with runny yolks, as there is the risk of salmonella complicating things further!!

Good luck!

I sympathize with you. During pregnancy #4, I had a continuous urinary tract infection for 2 months. The doctor had no idea why but my urine specimens kept testing positive for infection. I was on different antibiotics for the entire 2 months and then one day it just stopped. Then at 5 months, I got a blood infection that traveled through my blood stream. I had to have injections of a very strong antibiotic to clear it up. Again, the doctor had no explanation for both of these things and after the blood infection, I had no other problems and had a healthy baby. None of this hurt my baby.

well fish is very high in protein and iron! but u can only have little fish no shark, no swordfish but you can have haddock, Pollock, salmon small fishes. also red meats are high in protein. But as far as the infections I'm not sure on any for the exception of the bacterial infection i have had one and cant get rid of it either my doctor assured me that it is more of annoyance to me then anything it will not harm the baby in any way. they are caused by changes in vaginal pH which of course is going to happen when you are pregnant . I'm not sure on any of the others i would just discuss it with your doctor and see if he/she can you feel better about being stressed out or upset it will harm the baby and you in the long run. GOOD LUCK!

As long as your doctor is treating you for the infections, it will not affect the baby.

If you need more protein, you'll want to add more lean meats, beans, nuts and dairy to your diet.
