I'm looking for some fun things to do over this next weekend in the Rowlett/Dallas area. We enjoy sailing, planes and outdoor activities especially, as well as a good museum. We're also looking for a great used or half-price book store in the area. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

You are coming on a great weekend. It's North Texas Irish Festival weekend at the Fair Park in Dallas. Lots of wonderful music from singers with harps all the way to Celtic Rock. Dancers too. Dogs, arts and crafts - Don't just go and walk around - LISTEN to the music!!!

It's supposed to be chilly here - high in the low 60's - so be sure to take a wrap.

The Dallas Arts district has lots to offer - a sculpture and a standard museum as well as an oriental arts museum. There is also an aircraft museum near Love Field.

There is a good bookstore called Half Price Books. The "mother store" is on Northwest Highway in Dallas.

I agree, hit the lake. I went to the Irish Festival last Spring. It's OK, but just another festival. The museums around that same area(at the Cotton Bowl) are very small, and a waste of money. Being out on the lake would be a lot more enjoyable.

Hell with the festivals, get some beer and go to Lake Ray Hubbard
