You can download any 'karoke software' free from www.downloads.com and THERE YOU GO ;-)

I don't think you can really do that... not unless you arrange to get the original recordings without the vocals mixed in (per instrumental).

CSI makes a lot of crazy sh!t up... like audio software that can filter out a crowd of people to hear a conversation on a cell phone acrost the room... BS, really. We are talking frequencies here... and filters.
If you tried to remove vocals, you'd still have them there but lessened and a lot of other sound information missing.
