My daughter swears by vacuum sealing any item that she intends to freeze for an extended period of time. Barbecue or cooked meats work especially well for this an it is fairly inexpensive to do. My daughter-in-law was so impressed that we got her one for Christmas. Seal-a-Meal is an inexpensive model to use and there are higher quality ones available on the market as well.

There are no "freezer bags" that keep items from getting freezer burn, they may slow it down but it will eventually happen.
Do yourself a favor and buy a vacuum food saver. This is the best investment you will ever make. I buy in bulk now when things are on sale and don't worry about hurrying to use it, I have had meat vacuum saved for a year and still tastes just like it was brought home the day before. It's great for leftovers!
The culprit is air and until you get the air away from the food, you will always get freezer burn eventually.

Make sure you are using "freezer bags" and not "storage bags", there is a difference. Also be sure to squeeze all the air out of the bag before sealing. Do this by zipping the bag almost shut, leaving a little corner open, then press all the air of of the bag, and seal all the way shut. No freezer burn!

A trick my butcher informed me approximately use freezer storage baggage with a seal and fill a sink with water placed baggage interior the water as much as the seal . The water will push all of the air out and additionally you may seal them on a similar time as nonetheless interior the water. shop my meat from getting freezer burn. I do wrap the beef in a superb high quality stretch wrap from a great warehouse shop previously putting it interior the dishevelled.
