Are you familiar with the microwavable neck rolls found at spas? Those are great; usually filled with rice or a similar material and are quite soothing and comforting. They now make booties of the same materials which can also be microwaved. I had a friend with MS and she was always cold due to circulation problems. Perhaps a neck roll and booties would be a welcome gift?

My mom turns 60 in March! I have the same dilemma! We don't buy big expensive gifts, though. If I was you I wouldn't go the cell phone route again. She would probably appreciate time spent with you. How about a nice dinner out, so she doesn't have to do dishes and a nice movie? What about a book or a few DVD's she can watch at home? How about some homemade coupons that say things like "One dinner out with your daughter", "One foot rub from your daughter", "One back massage from your daughter","One movie out with your daughter", etc. and then she can call you up and say she wants to redeem one of her coupons! When people reach that age it's usually the time with family that matters instead of the material gifts. My mom doesn't care at all about jewelry and such. We get her a nice card and take her out to eat and buy a few cute little gifts like a stuffed animal or some candy she likes. She's easy to please. Good Luck with your mom's birthday!!!

tell her happy birthday for me. how about books or music? or a cd player for the music? maybe just take her for lunch. i know when my mom was that age she pretty much had everything she wanted. time together or an offer to help her with something always hit the mark.

I don't know if you have a blanket shop where your from , but if you do get her a blanket made with a picture of her and her husband or the family . You can also get her house shoes , pajamas , house coat , footie's , picture of your family with a poem on side of frame , something she wanted for the house . you also can get her a charm with the kids birthstones on it .
