Russian vine is a TWINING climber, like clematis. The well-known house wall damager ivy climbs by growing little roots into the wall joints, russian vine will not do this. It will grow like fury, can reach the roof of a two storey house in one season, making its way up anything in reach such as drainpipes and aerial wires, around which it will wrap its stems. It will not however damage your brickwork.

This stuff is a weed! It griows like billy-o, not just upwards, but thousands of branches which force they're way past anything. It'll eventually get into the soffits on your house (the bit by the guttering, just under the roofline) and cause damage there, before it lifts the roof tiles etc etc.

Yes. Any plant that climbs up the wall by itself has to make holes in the wall, which gradually weather away into serious damage. It'll take a long time to happen, but you are better off growing them up a trellis.

Can do as very prolific growers and you will have trouble keeping the Mile aMInute under control. May even lose sight of your front door!!

You won't know if it's damaging the bricks,it will cover your house
and get under the roof in no time.
