HIV was first discovered in the US by Dr. Michael L. Gottlieb in 1981 at the UCLA MEdical Center. Two patients had a very rare form of Kaposi Sarcoma and Pnuemocystis Carinii. They were believed to be partners of the "patient zero," the person who allegedly brought HIv over to the USA.

I would say start with the theories on where HIV was first diagnosed BUT that this was not where it is more prevelant. and the theories over where it came from eg was it gay men? or was it eating jungle meat like some theories suggest? or is it just a mutation of modern living caught up with itself????
