I've managed to stay pretty tight through the years. I'm sure I've been tighter, I'm tighter than some and not so tight as others. I don't keep a lock on it, my husband wouldn't go for that. My checkbook is wide open to him.

In this age and time, all should work and all should give equal parts to pay for all responsabilities. What ever is left from both sides should then be used to get your own things!! If somone needs something that he/she can not afford should ask for it in advance so that the other party has the chance to either approve or disapprove but either way should be kept in check and fair!!!!!
In my case my now ex- used to ask for **** all the time but when ever I wanted something she would disapprove and I would have to suck it up!!! You know is why she is now my ex- a guy can only put up with sooo much and the worse thing is I used to make the most and usually end up paying all the bills because she would always spend her income before giving me for the rent and asking for more after I couldn't pay for something I wanted!! She used to call me tight when ever I didn't give her money...........I didn't buy her stuff if I was worried about having enough for bills she was not interested in paying but would scream if I didn't have enough and the only times I gave up it was either for Anniversary or Birthdays......what was I supposed to do?
I am glad I am divorced and don't have to deal with her craziness anymore!!!
