What is wrong with people, honestly? Are you kidding me? Barry Bonds said on a radio show that he had been receiving death threats against him, just like Hank Aaron did before he broke the record, only this time its presumably not because he is black, but because he "took steroids."

Understandably, it appears Bonds had to have used some sort of performance enhancing drug, the physical signs are all there as far as his growth in size, etc., but the fact of the matter is, no one cared until after he broke the single season record. Its a sad day when Bonds' children have to worry that their father might not make it home from Spring Training, or is wife has to worry about raising her children without Barry, a loving father and DEFINATELY one of baseball's TOP TEN PLAYERS OF ALL TIME!

He WILL break the record, and we should all be proud to be able to see such a tremendous accomplishment.

Barry Haters, any rationale behind sending him death threats?

Like him or not, I think it is a disgusting situation when people take a game this seriously and make death threats! WHAT IS WRONG with these people?! What could be going on in their heads that they would consider scaring or harming a person because of his actions on a baseball field?!?!
Like Aaron before him, Bonds will have to deal with crackpots as he reaches historical numbers. I hope he handles it well and keeps himself and his family safe. I hope these are just empty threats of crazies, not actual dangers. It really puts things back in perspective. Bonds has done some questionable things, but threats like this are insane.
These threats will be counter-active to what the crazies are trying to accomplish. They will build support for Bonds and get "normal" people on his side.

I guess you could put me in the category of being a "Barry Hater" (as you call it). I think he represents everything that is wrong with professional sports and being wealthy. However, that doesn't excuse death threats, IF that is a true accusation. Frankly, I don't believe anything he says and it would be just like him to make up a story like this to invoke sympathy.

No, there is no rationale behind this IF it is true. Yes, he probably is one of the ten greatest ballplayers of all time....which only goes to show that great athletic accomplishments don't equate to great character. He would probably also make a lot of "ten greatest jerks of all-time" lists (including mine).

No, there is no excuse for death threats against anybody. But do I feel sorry for Barry Bonds? Absolutely not. He's a miserable human being and he brought most of that misery on himself. I do feel sorry for his wife and kids, though. He has brought plenty of misery on them also.

Obviously you've been manipulated by the media who, in turn, has been manipulated by Barry "Steroid". He wants the public to feel sorry for him. He thinks he can gain support by making up this ridiculous story. Although I agree that as much as Bonds is a low life, scum bag, cheating liar, I would never wish harm to him. Certainly in an area as unimportant as a sports figure. Although sports figures have their place in society, they are entertainers more than anything else. Why would anyone want to kill someone just because of a "number".

As far as Bonds being one of the top ten players of all time, that's an even more ridiculous statement. You should study closely the career of Barry Bonds. You will find that he was never more than an average outfielder. He was never considered to have a very good throwing arm. His only claim to fame was that he could never deliver in the "Big" game. What ever numbers he has put up are bogus in that they have been chemically enhanced. To me all that means is that Barry's numbers add up to "Zero".

My question to you is why do you defend a cheater?

I don't hate Bonds and am not commenting on your question.

This is not the first time Bonds has been threatened. Did you realize that the Astros were walking Bonds during his bid to beat Sosa and McGuire because his life had been threatened in Texas by someone who said they'd shoot him if he broke their records?

BTW to Matt: Bonds has already taken and flunked earlier tests that showed that the 'roids were in his system - he said he does not know how they got into his system as he thought they were some kind of "rub" (haha).

Oh my God, I agree with Georgie! Honestly - Barry is a joke. Remember a few years ago when he brought his kid with him so the media could not ask questions (I think the kid was wearing a Barry Sanders jersey). That kind of action is what Bonds is about - deflecting questions when they get too tough. Today it was -there are death threats against me, so don't ask about steroids and feel bad for me.
No one should feel bad for a mad who has admitted using hgh's (I swear - I thought it was fish oil), and has disgraced the game of baseball.
I believe during the length of their career, almost ALL athletes have received threats. You give a guy a keyboard, and all of a sudden he thinks he is untouchable. I bet A-Rod has gotten a fair share - and so had Mark Prior for being made of glass. It goes with the territory. The difference is how you handle it, and Bonds tries to play victim. I believe he learned that from Dusty Baker who actually walked around with LAMINATED HATE MAIL!! No joke.

Death threats are obviously bad but he shouldn't be surprised. There are a lot of die hard baseball fans and he is going after probably the game's biggest record.

Georgie is hands down "dead on" about Bonds. He's trying to garner sympathy from the media that's designed to break him. If he can distract from the fact that his assault on Aarron's record is potentially tainted, he will. Notice whenever Bonds is being attacked or scrutinized, he decides to trot out his family. He's had his son sit in on a few of his interviews, now he's using the family again in this pathetic attempt to exude sympathy from the world.

Bonds is a friggin whinner baby. He's dellusional and he wants everyones attention. He's also one of the biggest racist bigots around. I hope he throws his shoulder out and is lost for the season.
