i have to answer this question about the edgar allen poe story the masque of the red deat. what does the clock represent in the story is one of the questions also there is a red door what is the significents of the red door

Poe uses a lot of imagery in his work, and it is generally pretty safe to go with a traditional symbolic meaning.

Example: clock = time, since this is a story about death you can come up with things like "time running out", "time marching on", "impartial time pays no attention to human concerns", etc. The clock being described as black also contributes to this idea (remember that death is usually pictured as black in western culture).
Red is the color of blood, and in this story definitely seems to represent approaching death by plague.
