Hi,
If you are talking spades in Yahoo, you can bid 1 all day long. There is no minimum bid. Who told you that you couldn't???
I will be watching for additional information from you under comments.
Hope this helps you.

Depends on the rules for the area you're playing in. I've been playing spades since 1981 and the lowest bid I've ever seen is called "board" which is 4 (the maximum amount of players ina spades game).

I understand, you can bid 1 in Yahoo spades. When I learned you never really wanted to bid low, because if you made your bid and twice as much or more (example - you bid 4 and make 8) then you lose your bid (theorectically because you didn't count your books properly).

depends on the game rules, some players set minimum bids as -- board is 4 so the team has to bid at least four if you are playing pards. if you p bids 3 you can bid 1....it all depends on which style of spades your are playing lots of different verisons of spades each with it's own bidding limits or rules.
