They are crying out to be noticed.

Its certainly a sign of disrespect for others. However, its no different than the little guy who drives the giant pickup with huge over sized tires, gun rack, etc., and never even goes offroad. The guy who ties a dead deer or elk to his bumper and drives all around town for all to see. Or the guy who is hopelessly buried in debt but still drives a Lexus, Benz, or Hummer. All these types are seeking validation of their self-worth and approval so they can, "feel good about themselves". Never brings true happiness unfortunately, because its all a facade to cover deep seated fear.

Teens and young people play loud music to be noticed.

They are at a developement stage that requires them to say
"I am Here, see me" Playing loud music attracts attention.

It is like anouncing to the opposite sex that they are candidates for mating.

They don't care what others think of them as the need to procreate is much stronger. A human trait given to us all to insure the continuation of the species.

Many animals make sounds or even dance or show their markings, colors or plumes to a prospective mate.

Teens have done the same in one way or another since the human species started.

Some teens get mixed signals from raise hormone levels and incorporate violence. This sends the message home, " I can protect and get what I want"

I have to smile when I see this behavior as I realize that I may not have been born if teens didn't behave in this manner. My father has told me the story of how he and my mother first met all those years ago when they were teens going to the friday night dance.

How many of us owe our lives & existance to such behavior?

Good Luck

I see it as a bit like dogs ~ peeing ~ to mark a territory. On the other hand, it's inconsiderate, arrogant, rude, bad mannered and lame-brained, and ~

I have the comfort of knowing that it won't be too long before they need hearing aids whilst they will be on-line searching for cures for tinnitus (which I have and know how just 'aggravating' it can be ~ while knowing that the level I experience it at is not that bad, as they go).

Oh, and yes. They seek to be noticed ~ usually because as individuals they have little to make them noteworthy

Sash.

OMG... If someone is listening to loud music in their car, is because they just want to. I dont think anyone is seeking extra attention by doing this.
I for instance depending on my mood, may have loud as hell music playing in my car, at home, at the pool area, at the beach. It does not mean I am seeking nayones attention. It simply means I am enjoying the music.

Some funny answers here and I agree with them..its def attention seeking, though a lot of it is just immaturity, thinking its cool etc..I vaguely remember doing it even though the car I was driving would turn stomachs rather than heads..

EIn my pinion this shows bad manners, a lack of consideration for others and a low IQ, but this could apply to the majority of British drivers. having lived abroad for seven years it was noticeable on my return how bad mannered british drivers were, sorry, are,

Perhaps it is an indication that the person in the car enjoys the weather and the music they are listening to.
