I have been told that i have "Plantar fascilltis" by my doctor about 6 months ago.

I had the condition for 6 months before i went to see him(so i have had it a year now) i have had physio that did not work ,i have used ice etc etc...i have not had any injections on my foot as i am terrified of them (i.e i start getting sick in the doctors!!)

I am so fed up with it now it is wearing me down and i am grumpy cause it hurts "ALL" the time.

Does anyone know of anything else i could try?
How long can this last for?
Help!!!!!!!!!!

I had this for over a year. Painkillers did not work and it really was crippling me. Eventually I went to a chriopodist who built me special insoles for my shoes. After about a week I was pain free and have been for about 2 years, in fact I no longer need the insoles.

Yeah, Plantar fascitis is a frustrating condition for most patients and physicians alike!!
This is basically inflammation of the heel end of the bottom of your foot which caused intense pain during early morning hours.
The treatment is initially rest followed by ice packs, corrective shoes, physical therapy, use of NSAID (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs), Steroid injections.
Unfortunately, it takes anywhere from 6mo-1 1/2 years for recovery!
Surgery is the last resort......release of plantar fascia.
So, I'd say continue with physical therapy and take NSAID (Bayer, Motrin, Excedrin, Aspirin, Advil etc) for another 6 months or so...

Ultrasound treatment can help. You can see a physiatrist(rehab med doctor) for this or get a steroid injection on the foot. It hurts a lot at first but can bring you marked relief afterwards. It's probably worth the pain.

Ahh yes, I can sympathize with you. I did the exercises of stretching the arch and Achilles tendon AND had arch raising soles inserted into my shoes. This took care of the problem.

My mum had it a year or two ago, I just massaged her feet on a regular basis, I think her's lasted for about 4 months or so.

time time and more time, good shoes time, decrease your activity level and then some more time. at a year now are you sure there is not a stress fracture present, and MRI could confirm or disprove this. at 1 year of pain it is time for the foot MRI.
