My son is 7 months and I have been giving him baby food since he was 5 months and all of a sudden he won't eat it any more. I want to know why, He is now sitting in a highchair to eat instead of his bouncy chair could that be it? I don't know what to do and the doctor doesn't have any idea why he won;'t eat the foods he loved.

I suppose it could be that he's eating in a new chair. That never really bothered my daughter, but all children are different. I'd guess by now that your son has a few teeth. My daughter never wanted her baby food. She was more interested in what I was eatting. She ate off of my plate when we had food she could eat, I did watch to make sure she wasn't getting foods high in salt and ect. She would eat her fruit or desserts though. I'd suggest going ahead with trying him on table food and continue to try his jar food. He may be uncomfortable in his high chair. Try letting him sit in it while you clean the kitchen and such w/ a snack or some toys. Gerber bitter biscuts and the puffs that disolve in the mouth are really great snacks. If all else fails you may try putting him in your lap or a different chair. Good luck

My son really didn't like the jarred kind of baby food. Maybe you could try a couple of really easy homemade recipes. Making baby food at home is less expensive, fun, easy and actually doesn't take much time. I think my son liked the texture and flavor better when it was fresh. Take sweet potatoes, for example, you can buy fresh ones and steam them with water or even try apple juice (my son loved this one) when the potatoes are pretty tender, let them cool and then use a hand mixer or potato masher to get the food the right consistency and freeze it in ice cube trays. Retain the boiling liquid to thin out the food as you're mixing. A cube is about one tablespoon, which is a good amount to start a baby on. You can always add a second cube if the baby is hungry without wasting food. When frozen, pop it out of the trays and put the cubes into labeled freezer bags. These sizes also make it great for on-the-go. Good luck!

He probably just got use to eating in the bouncy chair. It would definately be worth tring to put him back in the chair and see if that works. If that does not work try giving him something new possibly some kind of fruit I don't know if you have tasted the baby food but the fruits are A LOT better then anything else.

My daughter has been eating baby food for a while now and sometimes she just wants her bottle. I figure no harm in that it has all of those special nutrients. Then the next time she will eat her baby food like crazy. All children are different and have there own little quirks.

Put him back in his bouncy chair and see if he eats it then. If so, then you know it is the fact that he is someplace else. My son (also 7 mos) ate his food in a Bumbo and when I put him in his high chair he was distracted. I took off the tray and fed him that way. Then after he was used to being in the high chair to eat, I put it back on. Another thing - maybe he is board with the food? Maybe try him on another food or a stage two or three?

well to to rule out that its the scenery i would definitely for one meal try putting him in his bouncy chair to see if he'll eat. if he doesnt then its not the chair if he does than you'll have to ween him out of it. if hes not eating because of the chair than he will eventually be hungry enough to eat from ANYWHERE you sit him and hes just beign stubborn. if hes not eating at all than i would see a dr they might say make sure hes getting plenty of formula and maybe could recommend soemthing else. you should get one of those net feeders, it has a mesh net on the end and a handle, you can put a piece of fruit or cookie in it and the child sucks or eats it through the net without choking it was great for us and my son loved it until he got teeth then he couldnt use it anymore. but at least ure son will eat and it will be something new he can try. GOOD LUCK!!!

Babies change fast. He may be teething and it is painful.
Or he may just not like the flavor anymore. You could always try a few new things. You can even start him on some of our foods. A mashed potato, Carrot, applesauce, squash, pasta.
But don't be too concerned if his appetite wavers from time to time. Soon he will be eating anything he can get his hands on!

I went thru this with all four of my children and it didn't have anything to do with the chair they were sitting in, but I do commend you for thinking so thoroughly about this issue that such a possible reason came to mind! That shows great concern and contemplation. With my children it was always one of two things... either they just needed something with more texture and flavor (in this case I started them on soft table foods) or they just wanted to feel like they were eating the kind of stuff everyone else was eating (in this case I took the baby food out of the container is came in, put it in a regular bowl like what we ate out of and presto, they would eat it).
Just remember each child is different and there is no handbook for figuring out their quirks. Although each one of us wishes there was. If you are worried about the amount of vitamins your baby is taking in due to this eating change you are trying to figure out then I would suggest going to Wal-mart or your local pharmacy and pick up some Polyvisol for your wee- one.

Even as adults a lot of boys/men don't like change so give him a little time. But, also try many verieties b/c some babies can simply get tired of what they have been eating even try different brands. Most important do not get so concerned that you have emotion that he can feel. Good luck

My son found baby food too soft and I found that when I startewd giving him what we were eating he was away and loved it. He also wanted to try and feed himself so I gave him finger food to try, sandwiches etc.

Try him with different ways of serving the food he likes.

Do any kids eat baby food? We have a whole cupboard full of baby food, because my daughter ate for about, 2 weeks, before deciding she was ready for big people food.
