i wanna get my fiction published. i write romantic stuff(mills n boon type) and murder mystery stuff. DO U KNOW OF ANY GENUINE AGENTS FOR FIRST TIME WRITERS WHO JUST CHARGE A PERCENTAGE WHEN THE PUBLISHER PAYS????

Yeah, that would be ANY legitimate agent. Get the Writer's Market as the other gentleman suggested. However, I would also suggest reading the Complete Idiot's Guide to Getting Published as it covers a lot of the tricks and secrets and can help ensure that you're ready to be published.

Good luck to you. I know the task of getting your first book published can be incredibly daunting, but stick with it. In the end, it will all be worth it.

An agent is helpful once your manuscript is accepted, not so much before it is accepted. The best way to get your book accepted is to write a killer query letter. Then the book is sent only on request. Saves time and money, too.

After you are offered a contract, hire an agent to help with the contract.

Go to your bookstore, and purchase a copy of The Writer's Market. It will be a HUGE help to you. Good luck!
