what is the difference between them because most of the time they are both at the top of the RAM usage and its really slowing down my computer

iexplore.exe is internet explorer and explorer.exe is My computer and the folder things...

explorer.exe is the name for the windows explorer that you use to look for files and folders within the system. Whereas iexplore.exe is the file that invokes Internet Explorer browser. These two programs use lots of memory. Had you given the RAM that is present in your system it would have been easy for us to provide an exact answer. In any case if you arr using Windows XP, please make sure that you have a minimum of 512MB RAM on your computer.

The best way to know the difference is press ctrl+alt+del now in the "task mamnager" window click on "processes" tab u will see explorer.exe as well as iexplorer.exe one by one end task them both, and observe the difference. hope this gonna help u in getting a clear view.

explorer is your desktop, iexplorer is your web browser. You need the desktop always, you dont need iexplorer unless you are web browsing.

If either are way high in ram use, just try rebooting. If they are still really high you may need to get help.

well explorer.exe is an important program as u need it to view everything on the computer but i think this iexplorer.exe might be somethng dogdy..

with explorer.exe you can only explore your own computer but with iexplore.exe you can explore the computers on the web.
