Depends on your definition of justice - if you believe that it's a priciple of right action (which is actually righteousness - which is defined as an action in which people act in accorance with their beliefs) then Cassie Bernall was a martyr for justice

But I would be more likely to say that she was a martyr for her faith- it says in the Bible that are persecuted for their faith will be rewarded in Heaven. It also says that those who deny their faith will be punished. (You can look in Hebrew 11:13 for a verse) SHe stood up for what she believed in and didn't care about the cost.

If she truly said Yes I believe in God before she was shot, she would then be a martyr but not for justice but for GOD!
Confirmation to the supposed statement has not actually been confirmed with any witnesses. It really doesn't matter though because if it helps one person to believe she said it, That is one more person to change their life for a good thought.

When on 20 April 1999 Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold entered the Columbine High School library during a shooting rampage that would leave twelve students, a teacher, and the gunmen dead, Bernall hid under a table. Reportedly, one of the gunmen stood over her and asked if she believed in God. She answered, "Yes, I believe in God." The gunman asked, "Why?" but before she could respond, he shot her to death.

Unlikely Martyr.
Bernall's parents, Misty and Brad, were evangelical...
