...or some other kind of head covering? It goes way beyond simple fashion, it often has a religious connotation. Especially in more traditionalist/fundamentalist cultures having something on your head often seems mandatory for males and females. From yamulkes and headscarves for orthodox jews to bonnets and wide-brims for Amish and everyone in between. In Western countries the practice has declined in the last 40-odd years (except for baseball caps) but before then men and women follwed a similar custom. What I want to know is...why!?!?

in the movies the men all took off their hats to look better to the ladies..John F. Kennedy refused to wear a hat but in an early time all men did this...its just the movies and the sign of the times.

but i still think it looks stupid to see a baseball hat turned backwards as what is the purpose uness your are an umpire.
why don't they wear their pants backwards? lol..i am just an old man..wear what you want...if thats what pleases you..women can all go topless (if they look good) and that would be cool with me

Fashion and head covering all relate to our need to differentiate ourselves from the rest. Equality is not always desirable.

That is odd, isn't it?

My best guess is that every area of the world gets too hot or too cold or has men experience male-pattern baldness.
