I am considering taking my children and some friends to the movies this weekend. I wanted to know a little about Music and Lyrics. IS it worth watching? Did you like it? please no plot spoilers hehe My friend Becca and her kids, are 15 and 13 and she’s taking both. I have a 13 yr old, 8 yr old and 5 yr old. Which should I bring Avery ( girl) is 8 and doesn’t know about sex etc. is there a lot of that in there? Would she notice? I think it would all go over Owen ( 5)’s head. Is it worth it to take him? Would he enjoy it? I think it would be ok for my 13 year old what do you think?

I thought it was a really cute movie, and definitely worth seeing.
It was one of the cleanest recent PG-13 movies I've seen. The only sex scene wasn't shown (two characters kiss and then the camera cuts away and shows them asleep in bed the next morning). There's a teen popstar who wears skimpy clothes and shakes her butt a lot, but that's about it. And there was no swearing at all.
I think it's perfect for your 13 yr old, and it's appropriate for your 8 yr old, but it might not interest her. I think your 5 yr old would probably be bored.

It's a surprisingly clean movie. There is a pop star in the movie that is supposed to be a Shakira imitation, who wears next to nothing while on stage. Other than that, it's not too bad. A lot of the humor is 80's pop culture, though, so a lot of that will be over the kids' heads.

It's a cute movie, and there is no bad language in it. There is very mild, subtle sexual innuendo in one scene, but nothing graphic. In general, it is surprisingly clean for a modern film. Your younger kids probably won't get the story, though. You have to have some acquaintance with 80's pop music to fully get some of the humor.
