he could be called a white person as well. this is not an isolated incident. whenever a so called white person parents a child with a nonwhite it's always a nonwhite child that results. doesn't this reflect the racist attitude of the majority? only purebred can be white and so on?

oooh... you have asked a question which shouldn't have been asked. I agree with you tho..it sure smacks of subconsious racist attitudes.

I think it's partly because the "black" genes are dominant, and therefore a mixed-race person looks more black. (Am being very optimistic here.) That said, it really is sloppy and irresponsible to say that. They can say "a mixed-race presidential candidate" or "of African heritage", which in Obama's case is quite ltierally true. It's not so hard to honor all of a person's heritage and tell the damn truth.

Because this is the way that race was determined a long time ago. You only needed one drop of black blood to be considered black, but every person is mixed with something so we're all interracial
