For homosexuality to have existed this long, it must be beneficial to society, either directly, or, more likely indirectly. Eventually scientists may find that most homosexuality is genetically linked, that is, an inherited characteristic. What might be likely is that, while the homosexual may not benefit, the carrier parent may have some genetic trait that is beneficial to society, and it is this which has been preserved, along the same lines as Haemoglobin S carriers and sickle cell disease (this is just an analogy, I don't consider homosexuality a disease).

What is NORMAL? People spend way too much time looking at others lives and not enough looking at their own.

You can not have Black without White, Or Sunny Days without Rainy Days.

Could you imagine how many children there would be in this world if the Millions of Gay and Lesbian People all had children at the average rate that Heterosexuals reproduce?

Homosexuality is Natures way of controlling Population Growth. If it were not for Non-Producers there would be no room left on the planet. Imagine another 10 million people standing around wondering where they were going to grow food, since there was so little room left! It does make Biological Sense!

Who says that there aren't other species that have gay members? First of all, you're not going to find a gay species (God didn't just stop what he was doing in the middle of creating the world and say "You know an entire gay species would be hilarious"). Second of all, do you know how hard of a study that would be. Imagine trying to find the "gay" members of a species, other then human. Now that doesn't make any sense (not cents).
Finally, even if there are studies that involve this topic, how funny would it be to flip on The Discovery channel to watch a special about gay animals (hmmm... may just be a good idea). Anyway, my point is, you shouldn't be so close minded... you never know what's out there. The number of species is too high to investigate whether there's a gay member here or there.

I'm reading these answers and I can't help but think to myself, "How? How can we be so incredibly ignorant?"

I know its not my place to judge............but......

This idea that homosexuality is "natural" because "lotsa animals do it" borders on insanity.

First off, animals also commit polygamy, eat their own feces, rape, cannibalize, and establish dominance entirely through force.

Should we start doing those too? Second of all, all afformentioned activites are more common than homosexuality in animals. Despite the impressions other people try oh so hard to give, its very rare. It's not surprising that they find instances of animals exhibiting deviant behavior in animals in unnatural environments, like those two penguins in the zoo. Unnatural environments lead to unnatural behavior, like that famous situation in the same zoo of the tortuise that tried to have sex with a peacock.

Seriously, this is really, really, really obvious. Out of how many answers I shouldn't be the only one pointing this out. You all should be.

Homosexuality is reported in 10% of about every species, from the lowest to the highest it does seem to suggest a natural biological occurence. I can't cite a source but I have seen this in about every biological text I've read in school. (Of course it could be just gay professors trying to further a left wing anti-Christian agenda, but I'll trust them on this one.)

Uhm, there are gay sheep, gay dogs and gay cats. What do you mean other species aren't gay? Do some research, you'll find out that a lot of mammals have gays in their species. (It's kind of hard to record certain species of having gay animals that don't really have sex, but just fertilize an egg.)

I assume you're not an English or Biology major. There are other species that are homosexual.

Look around.....there ARE many other members of other species who are gay. I've got a cat that I KNOW is gay.....I've seen many gay dogs and other animals, too. Many fish actually CHANGE their sex!

You need to get off your homophobic horse and realize that some else being gay, doesn't take ANYTHING away from us.....in fact, it leaves MORE girls from which to choose!! Grow up and stop with your religious BS!

Dr Isaac ^ ^ ^ says that there is nothing positive to come from gayness. I'd say that population control is a VERY positive outcome.
