Ah, someone who agrees with me at last! My favourite of the mistakes I see on here is the use of 'OF instead of HAVE'! Hilarious! I have been compiling a list of the side splitting quotes I've read in the last couple of weeks, utterly entertaining!

i'm a translator and proofreader yet i do not appropriate human beings on the internet until eventually requested to because those which aren't to any extent further linguistically minded do in simple terms not care, it really is a waste of time, and it in simple terms receives on their nerves. That said, undesirable grammar, spelling, and punctuation is disturbingly conventional in the course of the internet, individuals see it, and, understanding no extra appropriate, reproduction it; and so the vicious circle is going on until eventually undesirable English is the norm (if it really is not any longer already). i'd ought to stop my job to appropriate all the blunders I see in an afternoon's surfing: this web page is done of blunders (no longer jointly with the intentional ones), as many from the preachers of reliable grammar as from the defenders of illiteracy; the shortcoming or overuse of the apostrophe being the worst (2 Weeks' observe or 2 Weeks observe? sure, even Warner Bros get it incorrect, so what wish for some thing individuals?). And what can we do at the same time as even respected web content like the BBC are rife with blunders? by the way, the spell verify is sensible yet no longer acceptable. I virtually placed "truly my job" because my hands are continually racing ahead typing common words earlier my mind reaches them to inform them what they ought to absolutely be typing. The spell verify don't have picked that up. It likely would not %. up all undesirable punctuation both, e.g. the adaptation between it really is and its. This web site is completely no longer that undesirable compared to many forums i have considered, so perhaps some tolerance must be exercised.

In the world of today it is annoying, particularly since there is such a thing known as the spell checker, although this is invariably set to the American default. Not everyone has English as their first language, so I just tolerate it and don't let it bother me too much. What does annoy me though is when a question really doesn't make any sense!

I don't think you are alone in thinking that. My work involves reading reports made by others people and I am horrified at the standard of work that some people pass on to me. I am in my thirties and didn't pass my 11+ but don't have a problem with spelling at all but I see so much work done by those in their twenties who seem to be making it up as they go along. I don't think they know how to use a spell checker either.

Definetely ...
Only kidding - definitely!
It seems to be that people spell a word as it sounds and don't check that what they've written makes sense. (Did that?!)
What also irritates me is when people used text speak in correspondence as well: use ampersand instead of 'and' by all means, but what is the point in using 'c' when 'see' is only 3 letters long?

Yes, but if you watch the rubbish on tv you will see that none of the soap stars can speak English so no wonder people spell badly

What's worse is that it is the English people (who would probably boast of being proud to be English) that are some of the worst culprits.
The habit of putting an apostrophe in EVERY word that ends in s
is also prevalent on this site.e.g
potatoe's, hat's, shoe's, flower's. Lack of education!!!

Yes this does annoy me it seems as though people are trying to save time on typing. But half the time it doesn't even work.

yeah it does, but most of the people hardly care about spellings and grammar. its more of slang and some are even good at making their own words. we cant just stop people right! Best thing is to put up with it.
