I recently got hold of a widescreen TV/PC Monitor, problem is, the picture is completely stretched and the options built into the monitor do not allow the ratio to be changed, is there software that can change the ratio instead? Thanks in advance.

Right click on the Desktop - select Properties - under Settings is where you change the screen ratio. On the left is a slide bar that you drag to change the resolution and ratio.

Usually the ratios that are offered are determined by your video card. If you are not getting an option for the 16:9 ratio of a widescreen, then your card may not support it. Check the seb site of the manufacturer of the card to see if they nay have an updated video driver for the card that supports the widescreen modes.

Howzit!!!

Most rescent graphic card software (that comed with the drivers installation CD) allows you to change the screen ratio.

Check on the Internet, preferably on the site of your graphic card manufacturer for the software download. If you use a stupid graphic card check for a 'generic' software (i know that is a wrong word-but anywayz...) What I mean is check to see if the other manufacturers' software cannot work with your graphic card.

If no succcess, spent a lot of bucks on a good graphic card then you will rip the benefits..

Good luck..

Your video adapter, whether on your motherboard or a video card needs to support 900 x 1440 resolution. If you have a video card check the manufacturers website for the latest update. If the video adapter is on your motherboard you will need to update the latest driver for your motherboard and possibly update the BIOS. Possibly your motherboard and video adapter (on the motherboard) come from different companies. Example SiS video adapter and Gigabyte motherboard which is what I have. I had to update my BIOS to get my video to display at 900 x 1440.
If you got your computer already built you should be able to get the latest updates for your BIOS and or video adapter from the manufacturers website. You have to be careful to follow the directions updating your BIOS. If you've got the money to blow you can buy a new video card or you can get one cheap on ebay.
although you have to be careful to get a card that will support the correct resolution.
Best Wishes
