I read in a newpaper today that the new Trident chewing gum ad on UK tv is causing complaints, after viewers branded it 'racist'.
Has anyone seen this ad? What do you think?

Its on UK television. Basically the ad features a black comedian with an exaggerated Jamaican accent. After complaining that standard chewing gum is just too chewy, comparing it to "10 years' hard labour", someone in the audience offers him Trident soft gum.

He bursts out of the comedy theatre, howling down the street and shouting "Me taste buds is flooding" on a mission to "tell the world" about the gum.

It shows a bunch of black guys with the white paint around their mouths chewing watermelon flavored trident gum while saying "yessuh". Yeah it's racist.

I just read the article. I never thought Trident commercials were racist before but the one described in the article sounds
racist to me.

Is it the one where they show how easily the Trident peels from a diamond studded teeth. "Ain't no thing to chew trident with yo bling!"
