I agree 100%.
I think the attraction is the interpersonal drama. Unfortunately, Grey's ignores good medicine and realistic hospital processes. It's about who's sleeping with whom. ER is much better at depicting these realistically. (But ask doctors, and many will say Scrubs captures the spirit of medical-hospital practice better.)
Grey reminds me of Allie McBeal. Her neurosis was the basis for the entire show. And for legal drama, it wasn't convincing. I like the old Law & Order for that (back when McCoy would get to deliver a summation -- ka-boom! "Guilty!").
House, M.D. also sucks in "reality," but it's also very popular.
I hope people don't think these shows are realistic.

DH is hilarious for starters. But also I think it because there's something appealing about the charaters.
I suspect a lot of women can identify with the career woman trying to balance work and kids and the frustrations that go with that.
Gabrielle's exploits, among other things, satisfies the part of human nature that drives us to read tabloids.
Others may identify with Susan who, beautiful as she is, is still clumsy, a single mother trying keep it together and still get the love thing right and nothing ever seems to come out right.
Edie is a TV classic- "the girl everyone one loves to hate" but with a twist, a kind of "new take" on an old device.
And Bree. I think Bree is actually a classic tragic character. She seems perfect but her life is a tragedy in many ways.
Toss in a good chunk of mystery and good scripting and you have a recipe for a good show.
Grey's Anatomy.......stupid show, idiotic plots and not in the same league as ER by a long shot.

Here is why I like both shows
Grey's: one word-mrdreamy. I thought he was cute and decided to start watching it, then with everybody else watching it, I have to watch it to be able to talk to people about it. Like the whole controversy about Isaiah Washington and TR Knight.
DH: I only started watching it because it came before Grey's. I got hooked with the storyline about Zack young and why Mary Alice killed herself-I started to watch and really liked it (more than Grey's even). I actually thought the show was crap when it came out and didn't watch it. boy, was I wrong.
I also enjoy ER and have watched it all along. Grey's is less factual and more about personal lives. I like how the patients problems go along with the characters issues on ER.

I've never seen an episode of either show and I haven't watched ER in years. I guess it's all up to the individual's taste: I'm addicted to Lost, Supernatural, Monk, Psych, and Ghost Whisperer which are shows a lot of people can't stand.

i haven't watch Grey's but am a big fan of ER so I'm with you on that one. But I do like DH - it's just easy viewing, you don't have to think too hard and you can just lie back and relax. And besides, have you seen the totty???? Although ER is starting to overtake on the top totty stakes!

I don´t like Greg´s Anatomy, don´t know why, but against CSI i will never going to see that show.
And Desperate Housewives.. the best comedy in TV 3 years ago, so i continue to watch that for tradition and have not desperate me yet.... now, Earl is the best comedy.

I totally agree with you about both of those shows! I tried to watch to see what all the hype was about, and I couldn't even stand to watch either show in it's entirety!
