Well I cannot say I would put it past any politician to do such a thing, but if you look at the majority of answers which are extremely partisan in nature they generally lack foundation or facts and are usually just bashfests. I would like to believe that if someone was paying for propaganda that they would at least require it to have substance and character. Really I just believe that there are many people with strong opinions and this is a good outlet for them. Besides, one person's propaganda is the ideology of another. We have a tendency in general to dismiss opinions we don't like as lies and innuendo without properly examining the facts presented by the opposing sides. All sides have good and bad points to make, but if you are predisposed to only believe one side over the other then you are creating your own propaganda without any need for interference from dark forces.

I state for the record that I am not now, nor have I ever been a paid political operative.

Are you saying you think people are so naive they are going to be brainwashed just by people posting on Yahoo??? Wow, that is scary in itself. Perhaps you should discuss your paranoia with a medical professional. Or do you think Politicians are paying off your doctor as well???

And are you so naive as to not realize that terrorists use many forums to recruit? I think that is more a possibility than the politicians spending their time worrying about a forum like Yahoo.

Hopefully either way most people are smart enough they aren't going to be 'brainwashed' through a question and answer forum even if your paranoid delusions were true.

Politicians can get the message out on a better media than Yahoo Answers. But it's not 'brainwashing'... I for one am strong enough to listen to both sides of the issues without losing my personal beliefs or convictions.

I suspect sometimes, when a sudden swell of dubious questions appears on a single issue, that there is a coordinated effort to get a 'bandwagon' rolling to suck in undecided people.

I recognize them as 'talking points'. There has been a slowing down of this lately - and I think it's because Yahoo has found a few IP addresses at the root of some of our more prolific ranters. What we have left is just the fans of the right wing cheerleaders who have ranted them into a frenzy.

Al Gore has a new book coming out on how the right has been manipulating the press - it should be interesting. Available pre-release now at Amazon.com

The rhetoric is even on all sides. Most people can sort the BS from the real questions.

Well if people are getting paid to write such tripe as most of the questions on the Yahoo Political forum are then both parties hired the wrong people. Since most of the questions are poorly worded with tons of misspelled words.

Where can I get in on this? I need a few extra bucks. I like a good brainwashing as much as the next person.

No one can be brainwashed by reading questions and answers. If politicians were paying, I would sign up.

I would like to think that the politicians in the US...regardless of party affiliation...would distance themselves as much as possible from the party loyal on this forum. Mudslinging and slander is an artform to them, and I would suspect they find the kind here very amateurish and childish...as I do.

You are unfortunately on the verge of Paranoia. I haven't taken any money from any politicians since the elections ;-)

As dull, puerile, and misleading as many of the answers are here on Yahoo! Answers, our politicians are not smart enough to be that dull, puerile, and misleading.
