Yes, a friend of mine won super bowl tickets and it was a big news thing.
My future Mother-in-law was on the local news with her 3rd graders for some special project they did.
A friend of mine that's a marine in Iraq had a story done on him and his guys in Ramadi...it was that FOX war stories with Oliver North show.

I was on the tv one time. It was for about 30 minutes. I sang the song the last dance among others. I had to hang a picture. The radio was on!

Yes, I have a couple of friends who are actresses and I see them on commercials from time to time. Also, my best friend did a commercial for her husbands business. My mother and I were interviewed for a news piece (man about town sort of thing) and, my best friend 15 years ago was on the news when she had her baby on his dad's birthday which was also HIS dad's birthday.

I was one of those people on the street that got asked a question once. It was in Canada. Fortunately, none of our friends saw it! My nephew has done commercials. His girlfriend is a semi regular on the Rachael Ray Show. She does crafts and decorating bits. Her name is Evette Rios. She is awesome!!
