My grandfather is very old and he eats the stickers with the apples. I sometimes wonder if the glue leaves a poisonous residue ...probably!
PS my grandfather also eats sweets without unraping them, so the little sticker on the apple probably wont hurt him.

I think they put the stickers on the apples for the people who work at the grocery store either stacking the produce or behind the register. When I buy apples, the cashier often looks at the sticker to see what kind of apple it is so as to punch in the correct code. The stickers are quite annoying but I guess needed for apple identification. Kind of funny.

There is a number on them for the cashier on the till to tap in, this is in case they cannot identify the the apples. These are on most single produce now...................
