When you resume sports, you need to prevent re-injury. Be sure to warm up (even using heating pad) and to stretch thoroughly before playing.

I had shinsplints from running. The best thing to do is ice them. They will eventually go away.. at least mine did..

well at my school when we get shinsplints we always ice our shins and calves before we work out, we also do alot of calve stretches which could help out. hope that helped...

You need to rest your legs. If you've been jogging, running or walking quickly on a treadmill or outside - slow down for a couple of weeks and give them a rest.
Or did you buy new shoes? They could be a cause.
You could buy a good pair of supportive insoles to help also.
