No, I don't think it's right to be forced into religion. I think everybody, including parents, should let others choose their own path. My grandparents try to force it on me, I was even Baptised as an infant. But I don't think that should be, I think it should all be left up to you.

Well at thirteen you should have the right to decide if you are at church every Sunday. I think by forcing our religion on our children they have the tendency to rebel against it. If you are forced to go to church then you are probably not listening to the Sunday message because you would rather be at home sleeping:)
However maybe if you got into a few youth group things. To show your parents that you do care about God and you are willing to explore a more active role in your Christianity, then maybe they would be willing to give you a little freedom.
Unfortunately It is not your parents asking me if they should allow you to stay home if you choose to.
If I were you I would write them a letter explaining your feelings and asking them to take them into consideration. make sure you spend time thinking about why you really don't want to go. And make strong points. It is best not to wait till Sunday morning or even Saturday night and then bring it to them face to face cause it could cause things to get heated. I know 13 is a tuff age.
But it seems that your parents really do want what is best for you and if they are not budging now lay off and show responsibility and faith in your actions and then try again:)
After all it's only a couple hours.

I'm christian and I don't go to church every Sunday and actually I haven't gone in a while, but that doesn't mean I'm less of a christian. I don't think you should have to go to church every Sunday, but as parents they feel it's right. I understand they feel you will learn more by being in church but if your not interested in what the pastor is talking about it's not going to make a difference if you stayed home or not. I mean since you have to go to church every Sunday make the best out of it. that's what i did when i was your age, I sat with a group of my friends and tried to make the best out of the situation.
Good Luck and I hope I helped

yes. my parents made me do it until I was 14 then I was given a Jr. leadership role in the church. I got involved with church s much that now I want to go so much that even when my parents are not able to go (my dad has a heart condition) I go any way. going to church s the joy of my life. I could not live if I could not not go to church. maybe you will turn out the same way.

No I don't think it's right that you should be forced to go to church. This is assuming that you aren't sure about your religion or you know for sure that you don't want to follow your parents' religion. If you do believe in what the church preaches and you just would rather be doing something else, then I think you should talk to your parents. Maybe settle for every other week?

Yes, I hated this to when I was 13. And now, because I had church forced down my throat, I refuse to ever go again. I belive you are onld enough to know what you belive in as your faith (or lack of) And you shold inform your parents, that they have raised a good daughter, but you just don't have the same religous veiws, and don't enjoy church anymore. It's not a sin, (no bible verse backs up saying that you go to hell if you DONT go to church...) and shouldn't be treated as one. Unlike what many people have said.....
Just don't do this out of rebelion, been there, done that. They will push even harder for you to go to church and there will be more resentment as you grow older, and you will strugle more for your own personal freedom. I am doing the same with my mother, and i'm 21 for chirsts sake!!!!

They should of taught you the importance of god when you were smaller so that now you would know that it should be u wanting to go to church not them making you. Yes and no. I think that it is good that they are taking you to church with them but of course you cannot force someone to church.

Yes I think they should make you go every Sunday. Why would you not want to go? It is just like school you are there to learn. Except it and be happy. When you are 18 you can make all the decisions you want in your life.. till then it is your parents and they have all the say. Good luck.

Your parents kind of have to take you to church with them---if religion is important to them and they think it has helped them through hard times then they are going to want you to have the same advantages.
They take you because they love you and they want you to feel the love of our Heavenly Father.
They aren't being mean--it is their responsibility to guide you.
Yes going to church every Sunday is a pain in the butt and I feel your pain---I hope it works out for you.

They are trying to teach you values. They are being your parents. I think when you get to be about 15 then you should be able to make your won choice but right now you just have to go. Try to get something out of it. It could be worse, they could be subjecting you to negative experiences instead of positive. This means they love you and care about the person you are going to become as an adult.
