The US is a republic, the UK is a parliamentary democracy. These are not direct Representative governments.

You want them to listen to you? The People should seize the means of production. Then they will listen.

The US is not a Democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic based on the rule of law. Democracy is MOB RULE and very dangerous. The founding fathers knew the dangers of a democracy that is why the US is not one. I challenge anyone to find one mention of Democracy in the US Constitution or the Declaration of Independence; you will not find one mention. And I paraphrase a smarter man then I, " A democracy cannot sustain, for once the masses learn that they can vote for themselves from the public coffers we are doomed". Think about it, and learn something about our Constitutional Republic and why it is great.

The power of the people lies in the House of Representatives. If you want change we can have it by voting for our congressman/women. Second the Senate was never designed to be elected by the people. The Senate was originally the States representative in DC, the members were chosen by State legislatures.

Lastly this is how Democracy works. MOB RULE! No rule of law, just political pandering designed to sway the mob. It's scary, do some research. We are not a DEMOCRACY!

The winners should also respect the rights of the minority positions. Unfortunately, politics and statesmenship has been thrown aside, beginning with the Executive branch all the way down the line. Opposing views are considered to be "cut and run"
politics or some other public relations line that has nothing to do with intelligence or civil or human rights. Improvements to the system not only begins with elections, but with debates, demonstrations, and petition drives. We can't sit on our laurels or our frustrations. Democracy is responsibility, too. Let's get to work.
