i didn't have to chop wood, but i had to slop the hogs, feed the chickens, milk the cows (3 of them), clean the horse stalls, and collect the eggs from chickens and geese. it was fun until the winter. did ya' ever chop off a chicken or turkey head? that's really cool. they really do run around with their heads chopped off.

We had a wood burner also . The first one up stokes the fire to warm up the house. I carried the wood. My sisters and I would stand over the registers and our nightgowns would poof out from the heat rising.
