I dont think they like it very much. I have a pond with Koi in it and a neighbours cat has kindly taken one of the fish for some air. It is now lying tail-less in the middle of next doors grass. I dont think the air agreed with it!

I don't think fish care whether another member is soiled. The symbiology of vagary doesn't appear when you live in nature as they do... though the water they live in and the texture of their scales pretty much prevents the possibility of becoming dirty. And I'm sure, on the other hand, that it's necessary to keep their natural sparkle to attract mates. But the air, being less dense than water, doesn't help repel any oils or residues that cannot slough itself off. So...no, in a nutshell.
