why do the government give cash to parents and let them buy processed food and unhealthy meals with it, perhaps if they were to give them vouchers for fruit and veg shops, or vouchers for health centres rather than cash then the obisity crisis in england would just sort it self out, oh and at the same time this would guarantee that the money given to parents for their children was spent on the right things so children would not be poverty stricken by some parents who seem to spend this money on cigarettes, alcahol ar other things that are not in their childrens best interest

i am not saying that all parents spend the money on things that shouldnt be for kids i was generalising a bit, sorry but there are some, also why give people the money to pay the bills with i dont undestand why the whole benefits system is not being done with vouchers for the relevant bill or food clothes store that way we can all see as tax payers that the money that we help to give to these people is spent in the right way

did foghorn write all that himself bet you thought i would never read it maybe if people were forced to only use vouchers for the healthy things then they would feel better about themselves and perhaps their dignity would come back and start to show on children and future generations surely we need to start somewhere to repair the damage that someone has caused to this country, one ffeel bad generation should help maby more in the future do you not think

I receive vouchers for fruit and veg and cows milk. They ditched the milk tokens for this new system and each voucher is worth £2.80. Only to be spent on these things. I find it a great help, as I am opposed to buying cr*p for my 2 year old, I am going to give him the best grub, I don't want him to end up an unhealthy fat boy.
I am also in receipt of other benefits, which just about pay the bill - so I don't think that replacing all the cash with vouchers would be a good idea. We need to live - you can't spend a voucher in M&S or down the pub. Not saying that I p*ss all my money down the pub because I don't often go out, but having no access to cash thru benefits wouldn't be viable.
For example, I want to send my son to playgroup, and will do so when he is 3, as I will get government funding. This is also a voucher system, and pays for most of the sessions I will send him along to.
It wouldn't be logical to have no money, and just vouchers. It already is the right balance of the two. We don't need to change it.

parents do get vouchers for fruit and veg as for vouchers for bills, how would the government know the cost and time for each bill? and if they messed up which they usually do then families would be left with having their gas electric etc cut off. how would you like to have it dictated to you what you spend your money on

And who will fund this? Taxpayer? Fat chance, we're stretched as it is.
Whos to say everyone will use it? Will the farmers still get a good deal out of it, although they barely make any money as it is supplying the West with Fruit & Vegetables, Dairy etc?

i think they do get fruit and veg tokens and fresh milk. not all parents smoke, dont feed their kids, or drink alcohol... i sure dont, my son is my life... he comes first and always will, no matter what!! i do agree tho, some parents waste their money and forget that they need food in, gas, elec etc its silly. LOOK AFTER YOUR KIDS... THEY ARE THE MOST PRECIOUS THINGS ON EARTH! there... that told em!
