I know that a lot of Hollywood productions are filmed in Canada. Los Angeles has become so eye weary to the viewer and expensive to the producer that a lot of production companies do all of their filming up there, B.C. and Ontario in particular. My favorite television series, the X Files, was pretty much exclusively filmed up there, the Ginger Snaps film series was filmed and produced locally in Canada.
I grew up in Washington state and we all knew a lot of Canadians. There used to be a ship called the Princess Marguerite that would take people on day trips from Seattle to Victoria, this really nice city made up like a small London with beautiful flower gardens and people dressed in 19th century clothing, speaking with English accents and all. I don't think that ship runs anymore, but I've heard they have a super fast ferry now that takes people from Seattle to Vancouver. We always thought of British Columbians as just like Washintonians, some urban city dweller types, some rural simpler folks, a good mix of everything and everyone. They spoke much better English than we did though and we always got a kick out of the habit of ending every sentence with an "eh?" Beautiful country, beautiful people, get to know it better.
