There are a few tests that will get a positive response before you missed a period - First Response is one of them. But you're more likely to get an accurate answer if you wait until the day you would expect your period. It's hard to wait - believe me, I know. I always wind up wasting money on tests that I know will be negative because I can't stand to wait.

I've been thru the pregnancy test thing time and time again and here is what I suggest. Buy a twin pack pregnancy test. On the 18th if you haven't gotten your period take the first test. If it is positive, Congratulations!!! If it is negative, don't lose all hope just yet. Wait another week and use the second test in your twin pack. The reason I say wait another week is because the pregnancy test actually detects a certain hormone that only pregnant women produce. Depending on your own body it could take up to a couple of weeks after your period was due in order for your body to created enough of this hormone to be detected in the pregnancy test! Hope this helps. Take care and best of luck!

You can take some a few days before but i would say you are best to wait until you have actually missed a period, if not you can end up wasting a lot of money and the test may not be accurate if it is carried out too early

Depends on the test you buy - the more expensive the earlier the detection, some can even tell you a week before you are due your period but i think you would be much better waiting until the 11th

you can test up to 4 days before with highly sensitive tests. they do say the later you test after your period is due the more sensitive it will be and the result more accurate.
when you test too early and the result is a faint positive it can be quite confusing as some women miscarry very early on and it passes as a 'period', this can be very upsetting, so the later you test, probably the better as if positive, will have a strong 'positive' indicator as hcg levels will be higher.

Depends on the kit you use. Some kits say they can determine really early - but to be frank, I'd wait much much closer to the 11th - and a bit after if I didn't start then, to be more sure I didn't get a false-positive. After all, it's not like I could do anything to change things. And I'd still be eating well, avoiding bad stuff anyway.

Some tests are now accuarate enough to take a few days before your period is due - talk to a pharmacist for more advice
or see link below for some basic info about First Response Tests.

they usually tell you that you can test from the first day of your missed period, there is one that can test up to 4 days before your period is due, but i would wait to see if you get your period before doing a test as they can work out expensive, good luck
