Because finally they realize this punishment procedure is grotesque, sadistic and mainly doesn't solve any problem of delinquency (many times innocents), as a matter of fact, Europe has less misbehavior of his citizens than other countries in the world like the USA with its jails full of convicted people sentenced to death penalty, I disagree with social misadapted people, however, also I agree they have to pay for they fault, but the intelligence of the man must develop some other way to get paid for the crimes instead committing another crime, for instance forced work, some nations and its judges are common humans, and don't have any right to punish similars in such radical way.

1.it doesn't work as a crime prevention strategy 2.states shouldn't be in the murdering buiness
it should be something of a guide when you realize how few countries have the death penalty..China, Saudi Arabia, Iraq,North Korea,Iran, various tin pot African dictatorships etc ....and the United States
