It is not an accomplishment. It just adds more noise to society and it bothers other people. Is it supposed to impress somebody? To me it shows the immaturity of the driver, especially older guys who ride loud motorcycles.

Robert P: I've heard the safety argument, but I notice that the riders almost always wear black and ride dark colored bikes. Where's the safety in that? Nice try. It 's about being cool and you know it.

Biker Bob: Yes, they have been pissing me off for years now because no one will do anything to stop you a**holes from making the world more stressful and making me want to run you all down. If someone suddenly shoots at you and your loud bike don't be so surprised.

Mostly young people want to be noticed, so they drive VERY loud cars, spend thousands of dollars on LOUD sound systems, flashy wheels, etc. Some older folks who haven't matured yet do the same.

I don't buy that "safety reasons" answer. Noise doesn't make you safer. I've ridden m/c's for MANY years, and have never seen noise save anyone's life. It just annoys everyone.

It's cool because it annoys you. What gives with asking the same question three times in an hour? Look in the mirror fella, your blabbering on and on about this topic is a form of immaturity. Some biker must of really pissed you off.

Response to Vlasko comments:
What a presumptuous bigot you are Vlasko. I don't think I said I had a loud bike or what color it was or what color clothing I own. Perhaps you should just crawl back under your rock and wash your sheet. Don't forget your hood.

Well, I have had both "loud" and "quiet" vehicles. I am also a "hot rodder" or performance enthusiast. What makes exhaust systems quiet? Baffles, packing, and other restrictions. Removing as much of the restriction that you legally can, allows the engine to run easier, and yes louder. I have a 1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse 1.8 liter engine. After just replacing the muffler, because it rotted out, I installed a "turbo" muffler, not one of those coffee can mufflers. Yeah, it's a bit louder, but my gas mileage also went up 2 mpg, in normal driving. My 1996 Impala SS, with a 350 V8, I replaced the exhaust because I wanted more power, and that was one thing I could easily do to increase the power. With everything that I have done to that car, I cut almost a full second off of my 1/4 mile times, and gas mileage went up one mpg. Now, motorcycle's loud pipes do not save lives. They can actually hurt you, as the driver. The sound can hypnotize you and slow your reactions. I have a Suzuki Boulevard motorcycle, and, yes I modified the exhaust. It is not loud, but it is louder. So, sometimes, there are reasons, that somebody's mode of transportation is loud, other than to get your attention. Oh, and to a point, isn't that a little bit vain on your part thinking that they have the loud exhaust to get your attention? ( :

Its all about the performance. It is helpful for motorcycles to be heard because most people driving cars are busy doing other things rather than paying attention to the road. It is true that the loud cars and motorcycles are breaking the noise ordinances of most areas, but the police don't really care. In the end, if you don't like loud cars and motorcycles get in your dorky Volvo and drive somewhere else!!!!

I can understand what Robert P said about the motorcycles, but I don't understand why people intentionally pay a lot of money to make a new car loud. I think it just makes it sound like it's an old piece of crap car.

That's funny, because its only cool to the person in the loud car or motorcycle, to the rest of us they look like a moron. They probably have a ego and it makes them feel good to have people look at them... NEWS FLASH ... were not admiring you were laughing at you.

The only true answer to this "question" is that the "asker" (Vlasko) is simply a troll looking for attention.
