I want to know how to set up my webserver so that a second webserver, in a second location, will automatically receive the web traffic if my primary server goes down. Obviously, if the primary server is down, it cannot redirect the browser to the secondary server....so this needs to happen somehow in conjunction with the domain name itself, I think. Is it possible to have a backup site?

For every domain, you have to enter in primary and secondary DNS numbers. 'Perhaps,' you can have the secondary DNS point it to a second location. However, I suspect it has to be at the same host. I'm not sure.

I would contact your hosting company to see if they can guide you.

Best of luck
