The most important thing to remember is having well balanced meals and your prenatal vitamins. Variety and quality are key aspects. Lots of colorful fruits and vegetables. Plenty of meats if you eat meats. If you have a vegetarian diet tell your doctor and she will decide what supplemental vitamins you should take according to your dietary patterns.
When I became pregnant my doctor told me not to eat more than 9 ounces of fish per week. An equivalence to 3 meals per week. She said most fish contain high amounts of mercury which is dangerous for the baby. I did come across an article about Fish intake during pregnancy that contradicts the recommendations of my doctor, but because the subject is questionable and I know, by Gods will, I will be able to provide a healthy diet for my baby without fish I choose not to eat it for now. You can take a look at my yahoo 360 page if you would like to read the article. My profile name on yahoo 360 is faithful_servant2006. Take Care.

Take vitamins but do not increase you calories. You should not gain weight early in the pregnancy. The majority of the weight comes after week 30. between week21-30 gain between 5-10 depending on starting weight and eat no more than 200 -300 extra calories a day, That is = to a banana and one glass of milk or a peanut butter sandwich.

obviously eat things to keep your nutrition up but dont ever cut things out of you regular diet because you are pregnant unless its something like sugar if thats what the doctor says for a particular reason by changing your diet completely like cutting out all processed foods etc your body goes into "shock" because it is not used to that sort of change wich can be worse for the baby just the same as smoking.... the people i know that have followed all of the supposed "rules" for pregnancy regarding eating, drinking etc have ended up having babies with more problems and allergies than my own child or anyone elses i know.... but in saying that everyone is different
