And what about the cost to your body e.g. hips, etc. ?
Bet you that bigger steps means you'll alter the pattern of how your foot hits the floor -and you'll knacker the heels quicker.
Do steps that feel comfortable to you.

Taking bigger steps will increase the life of the sole of your shoes, but it will make you look a complete and utter ****.

well, shoe soles get damaged because of the friction against the rough road. it wont really make that much different if you made bigger steps (except that you would tire faster, of course). if you really want your soles spared, walk on tiles only. well, if you could.

No because you will be striding further, there will more pressure when you put each foot down, so it wont make any difference.
