get a piece of paper, put it over the spilled wax then iron it with a hot electric iron, the wax should stick to the paper....do not use parchment paper just tear a piece from your notebook of something,, good luck,,it worked for me.....

The iron trick worked wonders when I spilled wax on my sisters carpet. But you cannot use a towel, it will not do as good a job as either a newspaper, or a brown paper bag from the grocery store, or a paper towel.
They are more absorbent.
Just lay the paper on top of the wax, rub the warm iron on top for a while and you will see it soaking in, when the paper gets a lot on it, change to a clean one and repeat until gone.

Oh boy !!!. Think of it this way....you could have set the house on fire, but you didn't.

Tell us what colour the carpet is and what colour the candle wax is. And don't panic.

One way is to put some brown parcel paper over the wax and run a WARM.....not HOT.....iron over it. But this might not solve the colour thing.

Yes you have to get a teatowel or towel lay it flat over the wax then get an iron put it on wait for a few minutes then put the iron on the towel and the wax will soak into the towel. Dont iron the carpet direct as you will burn the carptet. Make sure its not her best towel though wont you!

Put ice in a plastic baggie and lay it on the wax for about 15 min, scrape off as much as possible....then cover the remaining wax with a paper towel and iron on low setting, the wax will stick to the paper towel, repeat till gone.

I don't know how big the wax glob is but, try this.
Put one of those frozen bottles of water on the wax to make it harden. Let it set there for a few minutes and then break up the wax and pick up the big pieces and then vacuum. I wouldn't try just ice because the melting water might make the situation worse with the wax color., etc.,

Yikes!...No chemical will help that. Comb it out or put some hot water in the area and immediately try to get it out while it is melted. That's hard even for a floor. But carpet....whoa. Good luck.

ummm..there are products out there, usually at candle shops specifically designed to break down wax for clean up. if you got the time and a place like that is around, check it out.

wax is one tough thing to get out of anything, i dont know any home remedies.

take a wet rag put in the microwave make sure its really wet so it doesn't catch fire the heat should melt the wax why you wipe it but be careful not to burn yourself
