Im 17 and Ive always had the outlook to finish school and go to university, get a job in the business industry.(Parents expectation). But since i was about 15 ive been listening to rap & hip hop music, rapping at home and friends houses. I wanted to go ahead with it cause of my passion and talent for the music. Should i continue?

Follow your dreams and not your parents' plans for you. John Lennon's aunt told him he'd never make money playing the guitar.

The truth?
It would be a long hard ride to get to where you could make a living at it. You would be one among how many ten thousands...how are you going to stand out to be noticed?
It takes more than talent. I hate to say it, but it comes down to money. Are you going to be MARKETABLE?
NO ONE will invest their money into YOU, unless they believe they can make money OFF you. It is a business.
If you can do this on the side, and enjoy it, then great. You would like so many others go through the process of making and submitting demos all over God's creation to anyone who will listen, all with the slim hope of it being noticed and picked up.

if it's really your passion go for it, as long as you know the statistics and stuff for actually making it big. also a good idea to have a back up plan.
