I justsaw it on the internet and it said a lot of people got killed and i was wondering why.

hello there. first of all the was no world cup of soccer held in 1988. The european championshops were held in 1988. Secondly, nothing happened in terms of violence in that tournament or anyother tournament for that matter. The world cup of 1986 was to be held in colombia but there was a devastating earthquake. Fifa then gave mexico the green light to host the event because it was the only country in north and south america that could've hosted the event on such sort notice, for the fact that they had stadiums ready to host games.

There was no world cup in 1988, there was one in 1986 (Mexico) and in 1990 (Italy), can't remember that lots of people got killed. In 1998 in France I believe one or two people died during riots (a policeman I think). Can't find anything about it on wikipedia though

the only world cup where lots of people got killed was in 1962 in chile becouse of earthquakes also in 1988 ther was no world cup taking place unless youre thinking of the Euro 1988 but i dont know of any thing happening there eather.

Teo v you are wrong about the earthquake in Columbia in 1986 the earthquake was in Mexico in 1985 and Columbia was asked to be on standby in case Mexico wasn't able to hold the event.
