Why do so many people think that bush can do no wrong. I understand he is the President, but he is not God, his word is not the final say on what is truth and what is not. I see so many Bush supporters on this site and I just want to know what makes people think he is even a good president, even an alright president? So what are some positives in his presidency because I can point out the negative myself?

I thing Bush talks a good talk about having morals, but really he just doesn't like gay people or abortion. because if you look into his history morals have not been his strong point, I'm slightly conservative and thought maybe we were getting a moral guy with him, but I was wrong!

Part of what we feared in Iraq came from what the Bush administration told us to fear without real reasoning... He could have picked any Arab nation and people would have went with it as long as there was some type of oppressive regime, which really isn't hard to find!

War always raises the GDP what do you think pulled us out of the great depression?

whoa bush supported a bill to cut deployment pay for those deployed to war zones and the cut benefits to families of those deployed, congress responded by voting to raise benefits! so building up the military maybe, supporting the troops that fight for us... not so much!

He has morals.

I don't judge his moral character, just his leadership abilities. Just like Clinton's situation. If they want to have consentual sex in the White House, then that is an issue between the two parties and their wives or husbands. Americans, and particularly the government needs to keep their cameras out of all the bedrooms. I think it's more morally apprehensible to start invasions without just cause, not caring for the weakest, the oldest, the youngest Americans, people who deserve better jobs, or equal pay for equal work. Bush will be judged by historians on his job performance. I didn't vote for him either time, but as for his character, that's between his family & God to judge.

Uh, no, having adulterous sex was not what made Clinton a bad president, though it was a strong indicator of his immoral and unethical nature.

Actually, many of the current Bush supporters, like myself, have disagreed quite a bit with some of the things he's done, and we certainly do not think he's god (in contrast to the Clinton Kool-Aid gang). He's been quite fallible.

Positives:
1. The War on Terror because it was the FAILURE to respond meaningfully to previous terror attacks that got us 9/11.
2. Lower taxes, to pull us out of the recession he inherited and to boost the economy, which it has done.
3. Reinstated adequate funding to the military and the intelligence services after they'd been reduced under Clinton
4. Putting together the Proliferation Security Initiative, a coalition of countries that act to prevent proliferation of WMD.
5. Putting judges on the federal bench who actually support and protect the Constitution.
6. Funding of stem cell research, including the first federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.
7. The diplomatic disarming of North Korea, using sensible multi-lateral negotiations with all the concerned countries.
8. His Secretary of State did not wine, dine and dance with Kim Jong Il.
9. Terrorists no longer invited to the White House, as happened under his predecessor.
10. Has made this country safer than it was prior to him becoming president.

Oh, and your amusing tale about how Iraq could have been any Arab nation is very funny, because it is so blatantly untrue. Very silly and unknowledgeable on your part.

I think we are premature in judging President Bush. He still has about 20 months left in his term. Although he was not successful, he tried to find a middle ground on illegal immigration. He has cut taxes. His domestic policies have some merit and he has tried to improve education. His low approval rating stems from Iraq and that's just one act of his presidency.

-the president who has done the most to prevent global warming

-raises the economy (you say its because of the war, well, the war isn't massive enough for it to matter too much, while it did help, its by no means the sole cause)

-tightened security

-By the way, i don't support Bush

I see him as a good presedent because:

Raised the GDP by 3.7% Each year for 5 years.

Signed tough bills protecting us from our now re-emerging ignorance about terrorism.

Took the fight to our enemies.

That's my 3 reasons.

It is American naivete' aided and abetted by Rovian propaganda that has fanaticized a segment of the population that reduces politics to slogans and bumper stickers. By virtue of your very question, one has to search very hard to find anything at all positive about this dismal Presidency. Perhaps some of the efforts to combat AIDS in Africa, but then again they have been overcome by the stubborn refusal to accept condoms as a preventative.

"Bush lied, people died" is that a Rovian bumper sticker slogan?
