Public schoolboys are brought up amongst the elite of society. They have no inhibitions and are taught that anything is possible. Their parents have the money to let them do anything they want and in fact, they expect it. I know a Baronet who hates to be known as such, "just call me Tom". This could be called 'eccentric' but I think it's because he is comfortable with who he is. If a member of the general public had a title, I'm sure they would make sure everyone knew about it. As to some of them being gay, well surely that is true of most walks of life. It's just that the upper class public schoolboy isn't ashamed to proclaim it.

Do you have connections with every single male in the country who ever attended public school?
I doubt it.
That sort of sweeping statement does you no favours.
Maybe you just notice the gay or eccentric ones.......there are lots more out there you know.
My question would be
Why do some people have such a huge chip on thier shoulder they need to make sweeping statements?

Probably because a real good teacher (and public schools can afford the best ones), encourages his pupils to be what they are. He / she will not teach them to become conformists, but to express themselves and their personality, and develop a healthy self confidence in his pupils. Further, be knowledge of a first-class education and wide knowledge does inevitably add to the development of personality and does a lot for ones self-confidence.
So the logical result are people with a glowing personality who are not the norm and hence often labelled as eccentric. Gay people who might be forced to hide their true nature in less educated and hence less environments, might be brought up in an environment that is free of resentments.

Because they don't want to knock up the girls. Besides, boys know what boys like. The smarter the boy, the more he realizes that fact in todays society.
