If you are not black and have any respect for others or decency, leave this question alone. If you wish to waste your time and be disrespectful, go ahead and write something that won't be read.

Sisters and brothers. Why do you suppose we are hated so much? How does that make you feel?

I've been looking around at many questions about blacks and I'm noticing things like this.

We are labeled one thing as a whole people. Like a person would say, Lions are carnivores or Alligators are aggressive. People talk about us like we are animals and not individuals with faults and strengths like others.

When talking about our people's great achievements in Yisrael and Egypt, they say foolish things like they were brown-skin but not black. I mean, what is a brown skin African American? Are we not black. But brown and dark skin Africans who've done things still unmatched are not black. Why do you suppose they aggrandize negatives and ignore positives? How do you feel?

My intentions are not to whine and complain, but I want to know how you feel and think about these things.

We have people in Africa denying their black and claiming to be other things then what they are because they are ashamed of us and our history in America.

People say they are not racist then say we are thieves and the problem of America. Young musicians are persecuted, some with merit, and blamed for societies problems. I currently live in a state that is less than 1% black and they have as big a drug problem as D.C., where I'm from. Yet they don't have any hip hop or R&B radio. Nor do they have BET. So why are we blamed for their problems?

It makes me think of that song, "It's been a long time coming, but I know. A change gon' come."

It's time for us to return to our ancient greatness and silence these racist pieces of garbage. I'm not asking you to give up your lives. But it's time for us to embrace the youth with all of their faults and be examples of love.

Like the old African proverb, "it takes a village to raise a child." It is time that we eradicate single motherhood. Our children are ours and not hers, metaphorically speaking. The only way a change will come is by making it come.

It is time we stop waiting for deliverance to drop from the sky and start delivering our people and breaking the shackles from off their minds. Take in all of this racism that is on here and use it as motivation to make a difference in what ever way you can. Small or great.

I'm not rich, but I'm willing to help.

For anyone else who thinks I'm joking. If you aren't black, I'm just giving the post a thumbs down without reading it and it will not show. So don't waste your time like Walker has. I don't care if you have positive or negative things to say. I'm talking to my people here. Mixed or not. If you think that's racist, I really don't care. You are being disrespectful to my wishes in the first place. I just want to hear how blacks feel about it.

I cannot call you my people, because we don't treat one another like we are each others. The day when I can put American on a job application or census, then I will call you my people.

Some of what you wrote I agree with but some I take exception to.
Firstly, I am a Black American not an African American because I do have other heritage of which I'm just as proud.

Any culture on the African continent is African, simple as that. I'm afraid that they have fallen into the media trap that anyone with dark skin is mentally inferior which we all know is far from the truth.

I believe it's their way of distancing themselves from Black Americans. I've had many Africans tell me that I'm not African I'm a Black American.

Black Americans need to regroup and realize that the world sees us in a different light. Once someone from Africa told me that Black Americans are a "lost" people.

Black Americans have made many, many, MANY wonderful achievements to this country and have not been given the proper respect hence, Black History month was created to let the WORLD know that the history books our mothers, fathers and grandparents learned in school was written with a biased pen.

America is still suffering the back lash of the American Reformation Era. Slavery was over but the chattel mentality wasn't. When we had the big influx of immigrants from Europe in the early 1900's they stepped into that back lash and picked up much of it's mentality.

During the renaissance, America started to learn of the Black culture's brilliance, charm and class through music, paintings and literature of the Harlem Renaissance. WWI made this marvelous age short lived. Therefore the rest of the world never had privy to Renaissance achievements.

Black Americans have made great strides in the last 50 years and we as a people need to understand media feeds on controversy and they know that there are still people of lesser mentality that don't want to know of Black American contributions.

I'd like to end this with a thought: Black Americans need to embrace who we are. And what we are, are a mix of different heritages. Yes, we are of African heritage but we also are of Indian, White and other heritages. We are who we are, Americans. Americans who have had the strength and integrity to over- come a multitude of past injustices. Americans who have the strength and fortitude to keep on keeping on.

Thank You.

I have been having the same thoughts for a while. African Americans are very stereotyped as being something that many of us are not. I can't answer your question too well, but maybe its another way to keep us down. My half-brother actually was talking about someone he knew at his old high school that was "preppy" and shopped at stores like American Eagle or Hollisters. Then my sister went ahead and said, "he isn't black." I went old and told her, "What are you saying?" If his ancestors came from Africa, he is indeed African american. Even some African americans stereotype themselves. Or maybe its just the people I know. Another example: At my school, many of the African-American kids are starting to wear tighter shirts, and skate shoes. These girls I know were all "They're all posers, or that they need to stop wearing "white" clothes. This time I didn't say anything, but I was thinking why is it any of your business what everyone is wearing. I'm actually mixed with some white, and Native american, but I still understand the basis of where you are coming from. Again, I don't exactly understand why they aggrandize the negatives, and ignore positives. It pisses me off. It seems like if an African American shoots up some store, then people start to feel nervous around the rest of us. This is a pretty hard question to answer. But I mean we aren't the only ones labeled as a specific group. Women have the same problem, Asians are all assumed to be smart, women are supposed to stay in the kitchen, illegal mexican immigrants are always hard working, white guys can't dance, yes we are a great example of how the world treats us, but there are always gonna be this stuff. Egyptians are African people. I barely like the term black or white. Are we colors now, or a group of people with ancestry back from Africa. And "white" is such a vague and non-specific title. How many "white" places are there. German, french, polish, english, finnish, and more. Everything needs to be revamped. Even though we escaped slavery, and legally are as equal as any other race, we seem to still be treated differently. My question is, "how do you determine someone's race if they are mixed?" I've seen white people who's dad's were black, and their mom was white. and i've always heard its whatever your dad is, so he's black? I still don't get it.

Why are people racist?

Unfortunately racism can exist in all races and cultures. Racists feel threatened by anyone who is from a different race or culture.

We are not born racist. Our views and beliefs develop as we grow up. If a child or young person grows up within a racist family, or has friends who are racist, they may believe that racism is normal and acceptable.

Prejudice of any kind is often based on ignorance and fear of anything unfamiliar.

The effects of racism

If a young person is experiencing racism of any kind, they may become lonely and sad. They may also try and avoid situations where racist behaviour could occur, and pretend to be ill, play truant from school, or be scared to leave their house.
You don't have to accept this sort of hassle. Everyone has a right to live happily and free from discrimination, no matter what their nationality or race.We must teach our children that everybody is God's creation, red, black, yellow all have feelings.Education begins at home.
Good luck

Blacks are their own worst enemies. We have always looked up to whites to help us even in very minor things like food. Our continent is well endowed with everything God could give us.Our leaders have made us laughing stalk. When you have good background people will stop to look at you and have alot of admiration for you.Let us copy Egyptians and turn our deserts into greenlands and farms to feed our people. We have money and resources to do it.Nobody will respect hungry person and this message should go to our leaders in Africa.Priorities should also go to eduction and health which are vital for any meanful development.West should also stop collaborating with our leaders to plunder our wealth.Oil companies are reaping our wealth and repatriating huge amount of our oil wealth to their already rich countries.Africa developed ,developed countries and is still doing it.If we develop our economies there will be no brain drain which has seriously affected African development.Brothers and sisters from black Africa you will continue to be viewed in bad taste as long as your continent remains underdeveloped. The issues above if addressed, can take us up the ladder and we can claim our pride in the world map.Look at Asian tiger economies .we started at the same footing but today they are very far. Why?They are committed and patriotic and the issues i have stated above were properly addressed.Wake up Africa!

as long as they love one yet another, no person because of the fact the main appropriate to be indignant at their relationship. Who knows of, perchance the guy of your desires might not be the comparable race as you or the comparable race you married seems to be the incorrect one (or worse abusive). Marriage should not be judged (ignorantly) by potential of others.
