this is in response to JohnM who asked for some info. didn't know another way of getting back to you!
We are flying to Mumbai with Virgin Atlantic and it cost £328 return flight from delhi. get lonely planet book, it's everything you will need! haven't sorted accommodation yet but loads of people have said it's easy to find hostels when out there. if you want any further info or chat just let me know!
