OK, look...I DO BELIEVE that we should be enviornmentally consious--like recycling, using paper bags, laundering in cold water, turning off unused lights, walk or ride public transportation, etc...basic COMMON SENSE and all of which I do. But this 'carbon offset' jazz has become almost laughable. It is nothing more than "penance" for kooks like Al Gore who waste 10 times the energy a regular citizen wastes--then justify it by planting some trees or installing solar panels at their mansions.

Give me a break. I am so tired of hearing this rediculous buzzword that is nothing more than some elitist envoirnmentalists' way of shifting a burden onto common folks so they can "buy" their way out of changing their own lifestyles. It is totally hypocritical and I highly question its accuracy. Comments?

In a way, no -- like you, I'm all in favor of people making conscious choices to be "greener", even when it hurts. We all should take steps to repair the damage we do. And if some programs remind us to do that, great.

BUT... in a way, yes -- it is just a way to justify revoltingly extravagant, wasteful behavior like Gore's, or anyone else's. The world hates a hypocrite, whether it's a cheating preacher, a crooked cop, or a sanctimonious activist, and that's why Al is in trouble these days.

It can be like the person who does something bad, but then just gives to charity or goes to church, thinking that makes up for the bad. Better to have not done it in the first place.

It is mostly PC BS promulgated by the tunnel visioned ultra liberal and rich. What most of them fail to deliberate is the fact that much of the purchased 'offsets' use up more negative carbon than what they can ever save. Then they fail allow the truth that buying new cars and other toys uses far more than just making the old thing continue to run. They purchase an 'offset' to let them feel better about flying in a private jet which has 5X the harmful emissions per passenger mile than a commercial jet but then don't even pause to ask, "Do I really need to be flying at all?" And the fleet of aircraft up there flying 40% empty and more deposits far more harmful gasses into the atmosphere than ground motive power. They are teaching us to wink at realities, inspect gnats ad naseum and swallow donkeys while watching the 800 pound gorillas dance in tux. It is sickening.

Why do you have this aversion to actuality and fact? An egg is an egg and a sperm is a sperm and while they integrate a foetus (Please observe the main stunning spelling) is formed. A foetus isn't a toddler and could die if faraway from the womb. The foetus would not have the required issues mandatory for existence exterior of the mummy. there's a energetic debate approximately while it differences from a foetus right into a toddler in the womb however the first consensus this is on the element the place this is formed sufficiently to be waiting to stay to tell the story exterior the girl's physique. you in basic terms do in comparison to a term that's a mandatory area of understanding the levels of childbirth and in case you bumped off it then it may complicate how a being pregnant is regulated and could desire to in actuality bring about foetal abnormalities or perhaps dying! those words are used for needed reasons!

Carbon offsets is just a way for people who waste and consume a whole lot to subsidize companies that these carbon offset people own and have stock in.

It seems like the way indulgences worked back during the Dark Ages. In fact, this carbon offset business promotes consumerism and WASTE.

"You can waste all you want, just buy some carbon offsets and ye shall be saved!"

I quote another answer I wrote to another similar question.
Al Gore promotes this stuff because he owns stock in said companies, link below.

Carbon offseting is our liberal nitwit friends way of feeling guiltless when the fly their Gulfstream private jets to the Academy awards to pick up bogus Oscars for a Junk Science documentaries on man made global warming.

I practice carbon offseting my own way. Every time I feel a fart coming on rather than just releasing the fart into the atmosphere in violation of the Kyoto Treaty I quickly get my Zippo lighter out and light that fart thus eliminating the majority of the methane emission that escapes into the atmosphere. Hey I am trying to do my part to become carbon neutral.

What the rich Hollywood wackos want is for all of us in the middle to die so that they can have everything for themselves. This carbon offset thing is just another way to stick it to the guys in the middle. That's you and me. If it was up to them there would be no production of anything because it might mess up the planet. Don't know where they would get their hybrids with out production. I do not believe they have even thought beyond themselves for one second.

Load of crap? How dare you question anything the left has to say about global warming. Why, don't you know that ALL the scientists say it is worsened by man's stupidity so we must do something now or we'll all end up looking like cooked lobsters and cooking our breakfasts on the sidewalk? Get with it, man!!
