If you have silk or artificial flowers, you know what I'm talking about. Dust gets inside the petals, on every little leaf and into places your feather duster won't even reach. Unless you have the time or desire to sit and carefully clean off each and every leaf and petal and crevice of dust with a toothbrush, your flowers aren't going to look very nice for long. Silk plants and flowers are costly, if they are covered in dust the effect is lost.

An easy way to remove dust from your flowers and plants is to pour about a cup of salt into a plastic bag such as the kind you get at the grocery store. Make sure there are no holes in the bag or this will be quite a messy procedure. Then, tip your flowers or plants head first into the bag, tying the handles of the plastic bag around the stems or pot, making it as air-tight as possible.

After you have your plants in the bag, shake vigorously from side to side, or hold the flowers up horizontally and shake them up and down, being careful to hold the bag tight around the stem or pot to minimize any mess. Shake the bag for several minutes, being sure to get the salt into all of the cracks and crevices of your flowers and plants. It's a good idea to do this outside just in case!

After some good shaking, your plants should be dust free, just like the day you bought them! Save the salt for future cleanings, it can be re-used many times. Of course, this tip won't work with larger pieces like ficus trees or large hanging plants. For these larger plants, try a gentle shower with your garden hose and let them dry in the sun!

When you get them and they are still nice and clean, take any type of aresol hairspray and spray your flowers or animals or anything (that wont be harmed by hairspray) let it dry and spray it again, do this three times.

When you see a dust collection do not rub or wipe, simply take them and shake them off! If this doesn't cure it the first time, take a paper sack with baking soda sprinkled in the bottom and place flower or teddy bear in sack and shake.

Now remove item and shake again, can take a feather duster and remove excess soda. Now your items will look like the day you sprayed it!!!

i comprehend it sounds truly loopy, yet as a house interior representative, I discovered that putting your synthetic greenery and flowers in a garbage bag with some programs of commonly used table salt and giving some shakes works wonders. It pulls the airborne dirt and mud off, keeps you from having to go by the mess of cleansing with water, and shines your pant up! i imagine the acceptable portion of do is to placed the flowers into the bag first, then pour the salt over the flowers. also, use a reliable high quality garbage bag.

I use a feather duster for my silk plants. I have even rinsed them under a fine spray from the kitchen sink sprayer, then shaken all the excess water off and blotted with a towel as best I could.

Use a microfiber cloth, or a low powered vacuum cleaner--if too strong put a nylon over the end, or wash with soapy water and dry with towel, or put in dryer on delicate cycle with no heat

Warm soapy water works best for me. If you can't fit the arrangement in the sink, try the laundry tub. No need to use too much soap. Then rinse with clear water.
